HHS Sets Clear Goals and Timelines for Medicare Reimbursements to Value
Secretary Burwell announced clear short-term goals to shift from Fee-for-Service (FFS) payment toward alternative payment models (e.g. Accountable Care Organizations – ACOs, bundled payment): 30% by 2016 and 50% by 2018.  Other FFS payments would be increasingly tied to quality and value through programs such as Hospital Value Based Purchasing and Hospital Readmission Reduction Programs, bringing the total payments linked to Value to 85% by 2016 and 90% by 2018.  See press release, with comments from major Stakeholders:




Secretary Burwell Signals Intent to Engage Medicaid & Private Payors in Value Payment
